The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit for the 2013–2018 Ford Focus ST is engineered to improve charged‑air cooling, boost efficiency, and long‑term reliability. While the factory system combines aluminum sections with restrictive diameters and a turbo muffler, these limitations reduce airflow and hinder the ST’s performance potential. Mishimoto replaces the hot‑side pipe with mandrel‑bent aluminum, eliminating the muffler and increasing internal diameter to deliver a 26‑percent improvement in hot‑side flow. All degradation‑prone rubber components are replaced with wire‑reinforced silicone to ensure durable, heat‑resistant connections and smoother airflow through both hot‑side and cold‑side piping.

Together, the upgraded piping provides a 21‑percent increase in flow to and from the intercooler. The bar‑and‑plate intercooler core further enhances performance by opening internal air channels, allowing charged air to move more freely than through the stock core. The all‑aluminum construction improves heat dissipation and resists heat‑soak during demanding driving conditions, delivering consistently cooled air to the intake manifold. Testing confirmed gains of 8 hp and 10 lb‑ft of torque, and the system supports a maximum horsepower rating of 550 hp.
