The Mishimoto Performance Intake Kit for the 2017–2021 Honda Civic Type R is engineered to improve airflow, enhance turbo response, and unlock additional performance from the K20C1 engine. While the FK8 Type R is Honda’s most capable hot‑hatch to reach U.S. shores, its mass‑produced intake system leaves room for refinement. Mishimoto builds on the OEM foundation by replacing restrictive components with high‑flow, reinforced upgrades designed for both durability and efficiency.

The factory accordion‑style intake hose is replaced with a five‑layer silicone tube reinforced with heat‑resistant fibers and internal steel wire. This construction maintains shape under high boost pressure while eliminating turbulence and increasing internal diameter. Combined with a smoother internal surface, the redesigned hose contributes to a 42‑percent increase in total system airflow.

The MAF housing and airbox receive significant improvements as well. The MAF housing is precision‑calibrated to increase flow while maintaining safe fuel‑trim behavior and avoiding check‑engine lights on the stock tune. The enlarged airbox accommodates a higher‑flow filter and retains the factory rubber snorkel, ensuring the dedicated hood‑mounted intake duct continues to supply fresh air. Together, these enhancements deliver gains of up to 16.7 whp and 20.1 wtq on the 2.0T engine.

A stealth black finish provides an OEM‑plus appearance within the engine bay. As with all Mishimoto components, the Performance Intake Kit is backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
