The Mishimoto Turbo Blanket for the 2001–2014 Subaru WRX and 2004–2017 STI is engineered to reduce engine‑bay heat and improve turbocharger efficiency. Turbochargers generate substantial radiant heat, and with the top‑mount intercooler positioned only inches away, elevated temperatures can negatively affect intake‑air cooling. Insulating the hot side of the turbocharger helps maintain exhaust‑gas energy for improved spool while preventing excess heat from saturating surrounding components.

This turbo blanket is constructed with an outer layer made from volcanic‑lava rock and titanium‑woven fabric for exceptional thermal resistance. The inner layer uses high‑silica insulation supported by stainless‑steel mesh, allowing it to withstand temperatures over 2,300°F (1,260°C), while the outer shell protects against more than 1,760°F (960°C). This multi‑layer design ensures maximum durability and prevents heat from permeating throughout the engine bay.
