MISHIMOTO Honda Civic Type-R Inlet Pipe Upgrade Kit 17-21

Improving airflow is one of the most effective ways to enhance engine performance, and intake upgrades become even more valuable as additional modifications are introduced. Building on the success of the Mishimoto Performance Intake for the 2017–2021 Civic Type R, the turbo inlet pipe was identified as another component with untapped potential. While the factory cast‑aluminum inlet is durable and adequate for stock or lightly modified vehicles, its internal geometry leaves room for improvement for high‑flow applications.

Using advanced 3D printing, CAD modelling, and flow‑bench validation, Mishimoto engineered an optimized airflow pathway from the airbox to the turbocharger. The result is a turbo inlet pipe that is 16.7 percent less restrictive than the OEM unit, improving turbo response and supporting higher airflow demands.

The lower section features a CNC‑machined cast‑aluminum turbo‑compressor inlet flange built to OEM specifications for perfect bolt‑on fitment. The upper section is constructed from mandrel‑bent aluminum tubing, TIG‑welded to the cast lower for strength and precision. The kit includes a 4‑ply silicone coupler to mate the Mishimoto Performance Intake MAF housing to the new inlet pipe, along with stainless‑steel worm‑gear clamps and an EVAP hose adapter flange for straightforward installation. Red or black powder‑coated finishes provide an aesthetic upgrade to the engine bay. As with all Mishimoto components, this kit is backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
