The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler enhances cooling efficiency and reliability for the 2012–2016 BMW F22 and F30 chassis equipped with the N20, N26, and N55 engines. While these turbocharged powerplants deliver impressive performance from the factory, the OEM tube‑and‑fin intercooler with plastic end tanks becomes a limiting factor, especially on tuned vehicles. Heat soak and structural weakness reduce consistency and throttle response, making an upgraded intercooler essential for sustained performance.

Mishimoto addresses these shortcomings with a 6‑inch thick step‑core design featuring a 115‑degree upper section to maximize charged‑air cooling without obstructing adjacent heat exchangers. The bar‑and‑plate core construction provides superior heat dissipation and durability compared to the factory tube‑and‑fin layout, all while maintaining minimal pressure drop. Testing on a 2017 M2 equipped with the N55 engine demonstrated a 45°F reduction in outlet temperatures and gains of 10 whp and 8 wtq on the stock tune.

The intercooler is available in a silver or black finish and installs directly in place of the OEM unit. As with all Mishimoto components, the F22/F30 Performance Intercooler is backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
