MISHIMOTO BMW F80 M3/M4 Power Pack Bundle 2015-2020

BMW continues to set the benchmark for performance luxury vehicles, and the F8X generation is no exception. The S55 powering the 2015–2020 M3, M4, and M2 Competition features an advanced air‑to‑water intercooling system, but several areas of the factory design leave room for improvement. The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Power Pack addresses these weaknesses with a complete, durability‑focused and efficiency‑driven upgrade package.

The first component in the system is the charge pipe kit. Factory plastic charge pipes are prone to cracking under elevated boost pressure or splitting at the seams, creating immediate drivability issues. Mishimoto replaces these with a full aluminum design featuring a cast mid‑section engineered to clear the intake system. Matte‑black silicone couplers provide a secure, streamlined connection to the intercooler.

The factory intercooler is replaced with the Mishimoto Performance Air‑to‑Water Intercooler, designed for improved strength, cooling efficiency, and visual appeal. The bar‑and‑plate core increases volume by 29 percent and incorporates a single‑pass coolant flow layout for optimal heat transfer. Combined with a 16‑percent increase in airflow through the core, testing of the complete Power Pack recorded a 12°F reduction in intake air temperatures. The intercooler is available in twelve BMW‑specific colors to match the exterior finish of any F8X model.

A high‑performance intercooling system requires an equally capable heat exchanger. Mishimoto expands the core height by 6 inches, resulting in a 180‑percent increase in external fin surface area and a 60‑percent increase in core volume. With the upgraded heat exchanger installed, global intercooler coolant temperatures dropped by 10°F, and dyno testing on a Stage 1‑tuned M3 showed average gains of 11 whp and 8 wtq. A variable fin pitch ensures optimal cooling performance for DCT‑equipped vehicles, and an optional steel‑mesh stone guard provides added protection against debris.
