However, the factory coolant expansion tank remains a weak point. The OEM beige plastic unit is prone to fatigue from repeated heat‑cycling and detracts from the engine‑bay appearance. The Mishimoto Aluminum Expansion Tank provides a durable, high‑temperature‑resistant solution designed specifically for the Type R.

Constructed from fully TIG‑welded aluminum, this tank replaces the failure‑prone plastic reservoir with a robust design capable of withstanding the extreme thermal environment of the K20C1 engine bay. Internal baffling is incorporated to maintain stable coolant levels during aggressive driving, preventing aeration and ensuring consistent cooling performance. A sight glass is integrated for quick and accurate fluid‑level monitoring.

The tank is available in a Rallye Red finish for OEM‑plus styling or a black micro‑wrinkle finish for a stealth appearance. As with all Mishimoto components, the Aluminum Expansion Tank is backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.
